iSchool History
Project Brief
Flagship Project of the CICT
The iSchools Project is the brainchild of former CICT Commissioner Emmanuel C. Lallana. Dr. Lallana recognizes the need to modernize the educational system. He believes that education, like medicine and business, should take advantage of the benefits of ICT and explore what ICT has to offer. According to Dr. Lallana, unlike the other fields, the educational system is still stuck with 19th century methods of teaching and learning. It's time to bring education to the 21st century.
Internet for Public High Schools - Bridging the Digital Divide
To promote the use of ICT in basic education, the iSchools project deploys Wireless Internet Computer Laboratories (WILL) Public High Schools all over the country. The WILL is composed of top of the line computer laboratories complete with one year internet subscription.
With the help of partner State Universities and Colleges, the project is able to reach even the most remote high schools. The WILL will be the Public High School's window to the sprawling web of online education material.
The iSchools WILL is composed of the following:
19 Desktop computers w/ LCD monitors
Server w/ webcam
Laptop
HP Four-in-one printer
Multimedia Projector
All computers come with speakers and UPS
Capability Building for Teachers
The WILL is but one part of bridging the digital divide. The project understands that even the most sophisticated technology will be useless without the knowledge to use them. For this reason, the project also conducts training programs to help teachers master the use of ICT in education. With expert resource persons, the project holds workshops like the Computer and Internet Literacy Course (CILC), Laboratory Management Training, Web Development Trainings and Sustainability Planning Workshop.
Use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
The project believes that open source software provide equal or better quality than their proprietary counterparts. That is why computers deployed by the project are based on open-source software. All the computers of the WILL run on Edubuntu Linux. The Edubuntu comes complete with all the necessary applications. It provides fun and educational content with the power and security of the Linux Platform.

Online workshop hones iSchools writers
Writers are expected to polish initial stories and articles for publishing at the iSchools portal, to enhance basic writing skills, and to learn basic online writing skills.
The writers will go through a series of talk on news, feature and technical writings, photojournalism, and online writing to be facilitated by Ms. Rosella Torrecampo, Jose Torres Jr., and Jimmmy Domingo.
Writers will be grouped into three clusters to facilitate the conduct of training-workshop critiquing and editing. Clusters will be named as VISMIN, Northern Luzon and Southern Luzon.
Each cluster will be required to create a presentation on the three workshops to beconducted: News and Feature writing, Technical Writing and Photojournalism.
The evaluated works during the critiquing and editing activity will be re-written by the iSchools writers and these works will be placed online by creating and developing a blog site. Blog posts will be
assessed to mobilize the selection of what and whose posts will be linked to
the iSchools portal.
Further, the gathering was essential and considered as a preparation for the SUCs iSchools writers to become eligible for the advanced-level training-workshop to be held on June 2010 at Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
A happy traveling is always on the minds of the travelers. And this could be possible when you are into life insurance leads to keep an eye of your health.

HOTEL CALIFORNIA: COMMITMENT SITE
The SUC iSchools writers from the Philippines were aspired to fulfill the training objectives that will make it easy for them to prepare for the activities of the year. Strategize and schedule major activities of the content development components of the ischools project, and how knowledge management and development concepts and principles can be applied. Other objectives they aimed to fulfill were on how to obtain SUC writers’ commitment to meeting the objectives and how to facilitate the drafting of SUC specific communication plan.
Knowledge management basics, framework, tools & techniques was well discussed by the human resource expert Joseph Torrecampo. His discussions focused on the purpose of KM to capture knowledge, gain new skills in writing and to generate knowledge not only through the writer’s outputs but through the sharing of such outputs among their group. Sharing of knowledge led to the writers’ professional development while working on the iSchools project and their own professions. Another point is to value the writers’ practice and outputs not just as tasks to be done, and deadlines to be met, but as writing for higher purpose– writing from a shared knowledge towards productive, measurable output. Knowledge to be gained and expressed through writing should not be seen as benefiting oneself only, but should grow to benefit peers and students, and ultimately, it means writing with the aim of being contributory to the nation’s development.
Developing media relations was dynamically and effectively delivered by journalist Jose Torres Jr. The key points were given profound attention associated with the rules of media relation objectives.
Drafting and presentation of individual and cluster communication plan were the required outputs. These plans were presented and reviewed by the speakers and the participants as well. At first, some participants were doubtful as to where they would start working as writers particularly the freebies. “We were hold-out!” one participant humorously said, because she was not supposed to be sent in the training. She was just told to take the online exam and suddenly find herself traveling going to the commitment setting and planning workshop. However, with the speakers’ knowledge to persuade and its ability to let other people understand the complexity of some topics, participants lucidly recognize the role of SUC iSchools writers.
These writers can always go anywhere, can work on anything and since they were sent
to be the iSchools writers, they can never ever leave especially when they started to feel and ready to shout out that they were committed to do their tasks as writers.
